Bleu Vermeer
is a self-proclaimed “wonder core,” equal parts fiber nerd, tool tinkerer, and professional enabler of joyful chaos. They first stumbled into needle felting as a kid in the Vermont woods, where wool fluff, sticks, and boundless curiosity were the only supplies needed. From there, things escalated—knitting, crochet, spinning, tatting—because why master one craft when you can collect all of them like Pokémon?
Somewhere between projects, Bleu started making their own fiber arts tools. At first, it was to understand how tools shape the craft. Then they realized they could customize them for the ambitious ideas fermenting in their imagination. Now they can’t stop, partly because it’s deeply satisfying and partly because it’s just so much fun to make something that makes other things.
By day, Bleu is the Education Coordinator at Artisans Asylum, a Boston makerspace, where they help other makers dream up and teach their own classes. By night (or whenever they’re not distracted by wool gremlins), they teach workshops filled with stories, hands-on experiments, and a lot of “happy accidents.”
